Privacy Policy

Alap is a dating app for adults in India who are open about the shape of their relationships. For many of our members, being identified in the wrong place is not embarrassing — it is dangerous. This policy is written with that in mind, and it tries to be specific rather than reassuring.

Who we are

Alap is operated by UnitedScribePlus Pvt Ltd, REGISTERED ADDRESS, India. For anything in this policy, write to info@unitedsolutionsplus.in.

Who can use Alap

Alap is for adults aged 18 and over only. We ask for your date of birth to enforce that. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.

What we collect

WhatWhy we have itShared?
Your phone numberIt is the only identity Alap has. You sign in with it; we do not ask for an email address or a real name.No
A display nameWhat other members see. A first name or a nickname — it does not have to be your legal name.No
Date of birthTo confirm you are 18 or over. Other members see your age, never the date.No
PhotographsYour profile. Photos sent inside conversations are deleted automatically after 30 days.No
Approximate locationTo show you people who are near enough to meet. We store a coarse cluster and a rough distance, not a precise position. No
Precise locationOnly if you specifically allow it, and you can withdraw that at any time. Background location access is disabled in the app itself, so Alap cannot track you when it is closed. No
ContactsTo hide you from people you already know. Your contacts never leave your phone. Your device converts each number into an unreadable digest and only those digests are uploaded — we never receive a phone number from your address book, and cannot reconstruct one.No
Sexual orientation and relationship structureThey are the point of the product. This is sensitive information and we treat it that way.No
MessagesTo deliver your conversations. Stored on encrypted disks. Not end-to-end encrypted — we can read them, and sometimes have to. Staff access is logged, every time.No
Device identifierTo enforce bans. Someone removed for harming another member should not return on a new number from the same phone. No

What we deliberately do not do.

Who can see what

Where your data lives

Your data stays in India. Alap's databases, file storage and application servers run in Azure's Central India region. Automated safety checking on photographs and messages runs in Azure's South India region, because that service is not offered from Central India — it is a different city, not a different country.

Our admin console is served through Cloudflare, but the app's own traffic is not proxied, so your messages and photographs do not pass through a network hop outside India on their way to us. We chose that deliberately, and it costs us something: proxying would be cheaper and faster.

How long we keep things

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you can:

Write to info@unitedsolutionsplus.in for any of these. We will respond within N days.

Grievance Officer

Indian law requires us to publish the name and contact details of a Grievance Officer resident in India.

Name: APPOINT AND NAME A PERSON
Designation: Grievance Officer
Email: grievance@…
Address: REGISTERED ADDRESS

Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days.

Security

Alap is not end-to-end encrypted, and we will not imply otherwise. Your messages sit on encrypted disks, which protects them if someone walks off with a hard drive — it does not mean we cannot read them. We can. We do so only when responding to a safety report or a legal obligation, and every such access is recorded in an audit log that we keep.

We are telling you this plainly because the alternative is letting you believe something convenient that is not true. An app that moderates harassment and removes intimate images posted without consent has to be able to see what was sent; those safety features and end-to-end encryption cannot both exist.

Photographs sit in private storage that is not publicly reachable. Access by our own staff is authenticated and logged. No system is perfect, and we will tell you plainly if something happens that affects you.

Changes to this policy

If we change it in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app rather than quietly updating this page.
